Bettis & Roaf Candidates For 2012 Hall of Fame Induction
(1/11/12)-As the NFL regular season comes to an end, it is an exciting time not only for active players moving on to the playoffs, but also for retired players that hope to reach the life time goal of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.Long time APSE clients Jerome Bettis and Willie Roaf are amongst the 15 modern-era finalists to be vetted from the group of semifinalists on Jan 7, 2012. Both players final cumulative career accomplishments place them in the sort of company that virtually guarantees placement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Bettis and Roaf, almost received entrance with the 2011 class in their first year of eligibility and hope for enshrinement in this summer.
Bettis compiled the fifth-most rushing yards in football history, tallying 13,653 yards over his impressive career. He was selected to six Pro Bowls, was a two-time All-Pro and finished his career with a championship ring in a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.
Roaf is one of the best offensive lineman of all time. Throughout his 13-year career playing with the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs, Roaf made the Pro Bowl 11 times. He was also selected to the all-decade team during 1990s and the 2000s.
Between four and seven individuals will be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012. The nearly year-long selection process will be capped with the annual selection meeting that takes place on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Indianapolis, site of Super Bowl XLVI. The announcement of the selection will be broadcast live on NFL Network shortly after the completion of the meeting that day.
The newly-elected class will be formally enshrined on Saturday, Aug. 4, as the featured event of the exciting 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival in Canton, Ohio.
