Brandon Lindsey Update: East-West Shrine Practice
St. Petersburg, FL (1/19/11)-Practice began Tuesday in St. Petersburg for the 110 participants in this week’s East-West Shrine Game. General managers, coaches and scouts from all 32 NFL teams are in St. Petersburg this week to view the talent that will most likely fill the middle and late rounds of April’s draft. Practices take place daily leading up to the game (Saturday on NFL Network 4pm ET).
Thus far University of Pittsburg OLB Brandon Lindsey has performed very well. Especially in Wednesday’s 1 on 1 drills exhibiting his ability to rush off the edge. He showcased a good first step and after one day looks the most natural of the group of pass rushers so far this week. He displays the ability to cleanly change directions off his speed rush and keep tackles off balance with the spin as well.
Lindsey is also making a strong showing at SAM linebacker for the East squad. He has shown sound instincts and awareness, and doesn’t look out of place playing from an upright position. He has displayed better athleticism than anticipated in zone drops, which is important considering several 3-4 teams view him as a possible rush linebacker. As a pass rusher, his ability to develop into an effective edge player could enhance his value on draft day.
