HOUSTON, TX (JULY 4, 2010) Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, Russell Okung, the #1 overall pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2010 NFL Draft, visited children at the Texas Children’s Hospital in his hometown of Houston, Texas. The Texas Children’s Hospital is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States and is dedicated to providing the finest possible pediatric patient care, education, and research. Russell’s impromptu visit was initiated by his want to motivate the children and put a smile on their faces, which he had no problem accomplishing.

During his visit, Russell toured the hospital, visiting with many of the children and signing footballs and hats that parents had brought in.  This is not the first time Russell has done something like this; on his last visit back to Houston, he made a surprise visit to his high school and spent the whole day visiting with the students.  Russell enjoys making a positive impact on the lives of children in his hometown and plans to make his visits to the Texas Children’s Hospital a regular occurrence during the off-season.
